The Foundation for Institutional Development in cooperation with the Ministry of Development of Communities, Territories and Infrastructure of Ukraine has implemented the project "Transparent reconstruction of communities: tools for public involvement" in Boiarska city territorial community and is ready to share the results.
Activities within the scope of the project were carried out in the direction of ensuring accountability and transparency of the activities of the Boiarska community by building a compliance system and improving approaches to anti-corruption work, spreading tools for involving the public in decision-making processes, in particular, in restoration projects.
Work in the project was implemented according to the following three components:
1. Development of an anti-corruption compliance system in the Boiarska community.
2. Development and implementation of a training company for anti-corruption authorized local government bodies and active public of the pilot and neighboring regions to ensure transparency and accountability of reconstruction processes on the ground and to popularize anti-corruption work in local government among the target audience of the project.
3. Carrying out a communication campaign on the creation, implementation and dissemination of successful practices of public involvement in reconstruction projects and anti-corruption work in the local self-government body to ensure transparent and accountable implementation and effective monitoring of reconstruction projects.
The main goal of the project was to provide the Boiarska community with tools to ensure accountability and transparency in the decision-making processes of the local self-government body.
The goal of the project was achieved through the following tasks:

Kateryna Datsko, executive director of the Foundation for Institutional Development and project manager, commented on the results of the project:
"Of course, it is difficult to evaluate these results in the short term. We will observe how these tools will be implemented and how they will show their effectiveness. At the same time, we are grateful to the leadership of the Boiarska territorial community for their openness and readiness for changes, so our cooperation will continue even after the completion of the project."
Olena Nardekova, chief specialist in the prevention and detection of corruption of the Executive Committee of the Boiarska City Council, expressed her opinion regarding the expectations from the implementation of the provided tools in the activities of the community:
"We are sure that the implementation of the Anti-corruption program will make it possible to increase the level of trust of investors, international partners, final beneficiaries and other business partners in the Boiarska urban territorial community, create attractive conditions for cooperation, as well as increase transparency and significantly improve the efficiency of our activities. In addition, it is necessary to think about the organization of the proper process for the post-war reconstruction of Ukraine."
So, the Boiarska community became the third community where a compliance system and improved approaches to anti-corruption work were established in cooperation. The Foundation for Institutional Development isn't going to stop there and plans to continue working on strengthening and improving anti-corruption work in the local self-government body.
