🗣️ Today we will analyze the topic of the importance of the implementation of Directive 2019/1937 of the European Parliament and the Council of the Europe dated 23.10.2019 on the protection of persons who report violations of the legislation of the European Union.
In general, the directive is a regulatory act adopted to protect whistleblowers and support their activities in the European Union. It establishes minimum standards for the protection of whistleblowers, i.e. persons who report violations of EU laws, ensuring their safety and protection from reprisals and persecution.
⚠️ The implementation of this Directive is important for Ukraine for several reasons:
First, the Directive contains a broad definition of the concept of whistleblower, which covers not only corruption offenses, but also other violations that harm public interests. This will allow Ukraine to reduce the level of corruption in the country and increase transparency and openness at all levels.
Second, it will help protect the rights of a wider category of whistleblowers who provide important information about violations of the law and corruption.
Thirdly, the implementation of this Directive is also necessary to ensure the fulfillment of Ukraine's obligations to the European Union within the framework of European integration. This can contribute to increasing the level of trust in Ukraine as a partner from European countries.
✔️ Conclusion: the implementation of Directive 2019/1937 on whistleblowers is important for Ukraine from the standpoint of protecting the rights of whistleblowers, fighting corruption and increasing the transparency of public resource management, as well as for ensuring the fulfillment of obligations to the European Union and increasing trust in the country.
