📍 We are starting work within the project "Transparency and accountability of local self-government bodies through the implementation of anti-corruption tools".
On May 10, the first working meeting of the Foundation for Institutional Development was held with representatives of the Pervomayska City Council of Kharkiv Region with the participation of Serhiy Derkach, Deputy Minister for Communities, Territories and Infrastructure Development of Ukraine, Oleksiy Orlovskyi, Director of the Democracy and Good Governance рrogram, and Dina Nerezhneva, Democracy and Good Governance program manager of the International Renaissance Foundation.
In his introductory speech, Serhiy Derkach emphasized the importance of similar projects, during which monitoring of the work of the entire anti-corruption direction in the community, delineation of corruption risks and formation of an effective anti-corruption program will be implemented. He drew attention to the fact that this isn't a material benefit, like the construction of a road or an educational institution, but is the construction of a transparent, stable future for the community. The start of this cooperation will help in the development of a virtuous community, the formation of zero tolerance of society for corruption and will allow the community to attract additional investments during the reconstruction of the community.
During the meeting, Kateryna Datsko, the head of this project, presented a detailed project implementation plan and, together with other experts, discussed the key tasks of the project team and the pilot community.
Mykola Baksheiev, the Mayor of Pervomaiskyi, emphasized the absolute readiness of the city council and its employees to implement the project. He told that the community has been working on the openness and transparency of its activities for a long period of time, has great potential and implemented projects in this direction. There are achievements, but there is much to work with.
So there are 6 months of fruitful cooperation ahead and the implementation of ambitious ideas that will contribute to the development of the compliance system in the community.
