🏘️ The roots of Ukrainian local self-government go back to the times of Kyivan Rus, when territorial public self-government arose, which was based on customary law and found its expression in popular assembly.
Today, the Institute of Local Self-Government in Ukraine continues the development process and is looking for the best option for its functioning.
The Foundation for Institutional Development supports local governments in their efforts to become virtuous, efficient and sustainable.
On December 7, on a symbolic day — the Day of Local Self-Government, Anna Fedorenko shared the Foundation's experience in building integrity of local self-government bodies at the all-Ukrainian educational and practical conference "Initiatives for Recovery and Development: Local and Regional Aspects".
It is important today to join forces and work on improving the work of local self-government bodies, because the success of reconstruction depends not only on international aid and investments, but also on the reputation of communities.
An integrity community is an integrity country!
The conference has been organized by UNDP in Ukraine in partnership with the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities under the President of Ukraine in the framework of the “EU4Recovery — Empowering Communities in Ukraine” (EU4Recovery) project, with financial support from the EU.
